I remember uttering those words so nonchalantly to the receptionist as I scheduled my 8-week OB visit for our third baby. She responded, "Congratulations! We'll see you in a few weeks and until then, you know the drill."
I did know the drill - I had been through "the drill" with my older kiddos and thought to myself, "this will be a cinch!" I remember telling Mike that he didn't need to worry about missing work to attend my appointments because this was, indeed, not our first rodeo. I remember Mike and I discussing how we would have to get back into the mentality of having a newborn again, as at this point, our kids were 10 and 6 years old. They were older, self-sufficient and they could wipe their own butts. I remember mentally prepping myself to say goodbye to luxuries like sleep-filled nights and hello again to chapped nipples and adult diapers. Oof...was I ready to do this again?
Well, the double lines on the pregnancy test reminded me that I should probably get ready so after several years of desertion, I found myself perusing the newborn and infant section at Target again. It took all of my self-restraint to prevent the shopper in me from buying both boy and girl items since it was too early to know the gender. It didn't take long for the excitement and joy to settle in - we were going to have another baby! Another baby to snuggle, to love on and to fill a too-long absence of baby coos and that oh-so sweet, intoxicating baby smell. Our third baby was on the way! ♥♥♥
