For Christmas, my parents gifted our family a trip to Disney World. We planned to go over the kid's spring break vacation between March 17th-24th. Given Sunny's diagnosis, we weren't sure we could still go. We accepted that it would likely be a game time decision.
On March 13th, the Monday before we were set to leave, we were cleared by our doctor to go on our trip and we were encouraged to enjoy it as much as we could.
We knew this trip would be a much needed escape for our family and despite initially not wanting to go, we ended up being so glad that we did.
Knowing this would potentially be our only family vacay with our Sunny girl, we tried to enjoy every second of experiencing her "firsts" together: first airplane ride, first visit to Florida, first time seeing Cinderella's castle, first theme park ride, first taste of Dole Whip, first time visiting Epcot where she checked world traveler off of her list. In one fell swoop, she visited France, Japan, Morocco, China, Canada, UK, Norway and Germany. We also bought her first stuffed animal - Minnie Mouse.
